Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Psalm 27:14

Advent and Christmas Seasons are upon us and my message to you is summarized in Psalm 27:14. “Wait for the Lord”. Waiting upon God is not being passive. It is not being lazy. It is not an excuse to be careless. Those of us who pause for moments to wait are seeking His will — which means that we are praying, searching the Scripture, perhaps even fasting, and listening to the Lord so that we may better serve Him wherever and whenever we can.

I once heard this phrase from a military man, “Hurry up and wait!” This is one of the many oxymoron phrases we have in our vocabularies. My focus is on the second half of the phrase. As Christians, we must learn to wait upon the Lord. Our modern society, as we observe it day-to-day is always in such a hurry. “Got to have this; got to have it now.” “Can’t wait.” As if we have been conditioned to stay in a permanent state of hurriedness. We are living our lives in the fast lane. Most people are quick to act because they are afraid of missing out on something. “If you snooze you lose!” Those of us who buy into this attitude make a move and then hope that God will bail us out when things go wrong because of our hurriedness. Everything in us is scream, “Go…go…go!” while God whispers to us, “Slow down and wait.”

This is my message to you this Advent and Christmas Season: Do not “hurry up and wait” but do “slow down and wait” as the Lord says.

I am always amazed by what is known as “the economy of God.” My inderstanding is that God’s ways are usually 180 deg. opposite of the way we think our lives should be conducted. For instance, the 1st shall be last, if you want to lead, you must serve, to receive – give, and so it goes.

Christanity is a discipline, Christ it’s Master.
